I know I've said this in other threads but, I have to say it again: the Minmatar destroyer looks like a damned brick with a pillbox stuck on top and a snowplow attached to the front. It's atrocious, lacks imagination, bears no resemblance to any other Matari ship design and... did I mention that it's just downright ATROCIOUS?
Come on CCP! As awesome as the new Stabber and Tempest are this new destroyer is nasty! Please rethink this ship. I never thought you could design something so awful that it makes the Moa look sleek and sophisticated but, damned if you didn't. What you want is irrelevant, what you've chosen is at hand. |

The Minmatar destroyer may have the "WIP" watermark on it but, have you all noticed that on the Retribution webpage that the two featured ships (Caldari and Matari destroyers) are the ones that aren't greyed out silhouettes? The Gallente and Amarrian ones are just greyed out silhouettes which said to me that those were the unfinished designs, not the Minmatar and Caldari. I felt that those two were pretty darn close to finalized or they wouldn't have been so prominently featured.
I think people at CCP have been reading these forums and gotten the message that the Minmatar monstrosity needs to go back into the oven for some re-baking, hence the new "WIP" stamps.
At least there's some hope that CCP will change the brick with solar panels look for something a bit more visually pleasing and less amateurish.
Hey, I have nothing against "different" looking-- I fly Tempests, Typhons, Falcons and Ravens. Please just make "different" look like you've put some thought into it and have some semblance to the rest of the race's ship design philosophy. What you want is irrelevant, what you've chosen is at hand. |

I raised this exact point in another thread. I think this hideous design was pretty much finalized until someone started seeing all the negative feedback and decided to try calming down the masses by adding the WIP disclaimer. I hope that this is more than a PR ploy and that they really are redesigning the model. What you want is irrelevant, what you've chosen is at hand. |

Based on the CCP Art Director's response in the other thread it appears that we're stuck with the "snow plow brick" destroyer. Blech. I'll stick with the Thrasher or fly the Caldari U-Boat. Thank goodness for being cross-trained.
You let a bunch of us down with this one, CCP. What you want is irrelevant, what you've chosen is at hand. |

Burhtun wrote:Interesting idea. Would need a lot of changes to feel balanced to me. Gave it a shot: http://burhtun.com/sketches/mindest2.jpgTried to get the front prongs back in there too and also influence from German WW2 half track to get the whole dated military thing CCP is going for.
I don't understand CCP's fascination with WW2 hardware but, if we have to go down that road, I'd be very happy with Burhtun's designs. They're FAR nicer than the brick CCP came up with.
